Effective DUI Defense Lawyers
A drunk driving arrest can happen to just about anyone. The question is, once it happens, how will it affect your future?
At Herr & Low, P.C., your attorney will carefully analyze, review and explain your case so that you can choose the option which will make the most sense for you.
A DUI defense can be based on a number of factors, including:
- Was the officer within his or her jurisdiction when the arrest was made?
- Was the testing device accurate? Are the results of the blood or breath test reliable?
- Was there probable cause to stop the driver?
- Were proper procedures followed throughout the arrest and booking?
- Is this a first offense?
ARD: A Program for First-Time Offenders
ARD stands for Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition. It is a program designed to keep first- time offenders out of jail. If your case is accepted into the ARD program, you won't lose your license for as long as you otherwise would.
If you successfully complete the program, a criminal conviction will not appear on a criminal background check. In fact, once you complete the ARD program, a petition can be filed with the court asking that the DUI charge itself be wiped from your record. Keeping your record as clean as possible is important for employment purposes.
Fees in Criminal Matters
There is an initial consultation fee of $85 for criminal law and motor vehicle code matters. Attorney's fees are usually charged on a flat fee basis and depend upon which stage of the proceeding is involved and the complexity of the case. All fees must be paid in advance before the attorney will attend any proceeding.
